Road License

What is a Vehicle Road License?

A Vehicle Road License (commonly known as the windscreen License):

  • is an authorisation for the vehicle to be on the road
  • shows the vehicle registration number and the date up to which the license is valid;
  • must be displayed on the left hand side of the windscreen
  • cannot be transferred from one vehicle to another.

Vehicle Road Licenses can only be renewed either online through www.licenzji-vetturi.gov.mt or through your Insurance Agent. Renewals processed online will be sent by registered mail to the client. No vehicle may be driven or parked on a public road without license. All vehicles with an expired licence of more than three months are subject to an administrative fine of €2.00 per day including weekends.
