EMISSION
1. What is the emission alert sms number?
50611899
2. When 1 person sends 1 sms will you send for the vehicle to be inspected?
No, a number of different sms reports have to be received for a vehicle to be sent for testing.
3. I received a letter from ADT asking me to take my vehicle for testing. What do I do?
Your vehicle is to be brought to the Vehicle Inspectorate Unit in Hornworks Ditch, Floriana at the date and time stated in our letter.
4. What if the person who sent the SMS has a grudge against me and is doing this out of spite?
ADT encourages you to attend the test anyway since the ADT reserves the legal right to call any vehicle for a test at any time.
If you wish, after the test, you can send us a formal complaint and we will investigate further. You will, however, be required to take the witness stand if the need arises.
5. Do you give any information to the persons who have sent the SMS’s regarding the reported vehicle and the final result?
There is an instant automated reply/acknowledgement as soon as an SMS is sent, but no information can be given out due to the Data protection Act.
6. Can I change the appointment because I can’t attend on that particular day?
If you cannot attend, you are requested to contact the Authority on 25608000. We will then send you a second and final appointment. Alternatively, you may send another person with your vehicle.
7. Can I report public Transport buses, cranes, heavy vehicles etc?
Yes, any type of vehicle, which is emitting heavy fumes, may be reported.
8. I received an appointment to bring in my vehicle to be inspected but I can’t come on that day because my car is in the garage waiting for parts from abroad to get fixed.
Don’t attend on the specified date. When the vehicle is fixed, inform us so we can give you another appointment. In the meantime, your vehicle road licence will be suspended as per regulation 120 of the Motor Vehicle Regulations, and a restriction will be issued against your vehicle road licence, which will not be renewed before the test is passed.
9. My car is garaged and I received a letter from you to take my vehicle for inspection. What should I do?
Don’t attend the test, but your vehicle road licence will be suspended as per regulation 120 of the Motor Vehicle Regulations and a restriction will be issued against your vehicle road licence which will not be able to be renewed before the test is passed. If, in the future, you de-garage your vehicle, contact us on 25608000 to book for an appointment to test it.
10. What kind of restriction is issued against my license if I don’t bring in my vehicle for testing?
If, for whatever reason, you fail to attend on the specific date, unless you would have informed the Authority well in advance, your vehicle road licence will be suspended as per regulation 120 of the Motor Vehicle Regulations and a restriction will be issued against your vehicle road licence which will not be renewed before the test is passed. To have the restriction lifted, you have to take and pass the test. If you fail the test, the restriction will not be lifted until you pass the test.
11. If my car fails the emission test, what happens?
A €46.59 fine will be issued. You will be given another appointment at a later date for another emission test. This procedure will be repeated until your vehicle passes the test.
12. What happens if my car passes the test and I am once again reported by SMS and sent for an appointment?
If 3 months have passed since your vehicle was tested, you are obliged to retake the test. In the case where less than 3 months have passed since passing the test, inform the ADT’s Customer Care Unit on 25608000 and the test will be cancelled.
13. If I have a restriction on my license, what do I have to do?
